Stamp on the front cover is from Michigan Machinery & Equipment Co, East Eight Mile Road Detroit, also St. Joseph, and Jackson. It also advertises Clark Equipment Co. Benton Harbor Michigan.
There are MANY photos of now vintage construction equipment.
1955 was before Hawaii and Alaska received statehood. The Michigan map is pre-expressways ...so no I-75, 69, 96, NO MACKINAC BRIDGE.  Map shows routes of ferry boats traveling between peninsulas.
All states have encountered huge changes since 1955. South Florida shows no development- only natural swamp. See photos.
Atlas is in book condition considering age. Binding is good. Book shows some age spots and yellowing on pages. Worst mark is an old stain (from a spill) on the edge of the book.
