6 Foot 6-Pin to 4-Pin Digital IEEE 1394 Cable
This cable has a 6-pin connector at one end, and a 4-pin connector at the other end. It is used to connect a PC with a IEEE 1394 compatable port with a 6-pin connector to digital devices with a IEEE 1394 compatable 4-pin connector. It may be used in reverse - to connect a 6-pin device to a 4-pin port or adapter. When using an adapter to connect cables or to extend an existing cable, keep in mind the following:
You can connect a digital device with a 4-pin device connector to a cable, an adapter or a PC with a 6-pin configuration.
If you connect a digital device with a 6-pin configuration to a cable, adapter or PC with a 4-pin configuration, be aware that two of the device's pins are not being represented. This may prevent the device from operating entirely. Refer to the device's owners manual for proper operation.
When extending an existing cable, you should not exceed the IEEE 1394 suggested maximum length of 14.7 feet (4.5m)
