    Description

    Charles R. Wittemann [1884 1967] was a Early Bird member and one of the most respected names in American aviation history. Wittemann opened the first airplane manufacturing plant in the United States in 1906 and was the first commercial builder of aircraft. Wittemann built specific aircraft for the U.S Postal Service in 1918 which were capable of carrying 1000 pounds, designed and built the Barling Bomber for the U.S Army which was the largest plane in the world at the time and designed and produced special stunt aircraft for many of the famous flyers of the era. Listed for auction is the autograph of Charles R. Wittemann signed on a card. The autograph is signed ''Charles W. Wittemann'' and dated ''March 10-1938'' in black fountain pen. The card measures 5.00 x 3.00 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope. The autograph is authentic, uncommon and is a nice example of this noted aviation pioneer and Early Bird.
