ANTIQUE FLAT TOP CHINA HEAD DOLL, GREAT FACE , nice body and dress

Description

This pretty lady is a "flat top" china head, dating from the Civil War era. Her high forehead distinguishes her from the more common "low brow" type of china head.   Made in Germany about 1850.
She has a shapely cloth body with antique arms  with leather uppers.  Fingertips of both hands have small chips.
Legs are good quality replacements with no damage.  She sits well with her shapely bum. She is 16 inches tall  Her lovely face is well painted and the only visible damage is wear to the back of the  black hair--see photo.   On her shoulderplate, both front and back have glued repairs from old damage. This is neat and sturdy so she displays nicely.   Her repairs don't show  when wearing  her vintage 2 piece black and white dress.   Dress has some brown discoloration as often happens with sawdust doll  bodies.  I haven't tried to wash it out. She has no slip, just pettipants.   The dress closure is snaps and hook and eye.
