    Description

    Hello & Welcome
This listing is for an antique Dressel & Kister half doll.
References to this half doll can be found in several books.  One such reference can be found on page 27 of The Collector's Encyclopedia of Half Dolls by Frieda Marion Norma Werner.
She is nude with a lovely wide brimmed hat and large bow.
She carries the Dressel & Kister trade mark on the interior of her base as photos show.
She is an arms away style half doll and she holds a porcelain rose in her extended left hand.
A very sought after half doll that came in a few different hat colors (pink, lavender, green and blue) and at least 5 different sizes that I am aware of.
This half doll is 3.25 inches tall.
This beautiful piece has a chip to her right thumb as you can see in the photos.
Does not keep her from displaying beautifully.
I have taken this into consideration when pricing her.
Recent prices on half dolls of this mold and size regardless of hat color range from 225.00 to 375.00.  There were a few that were missing the rose that brought in excess of over 200.00.
She holds a porcelain rose in her left hand which she appears to be gazing at and the leaves have tiny flea bit chips and I do believe that at one point the rose was reattached to her hand.  Very hard to tell but I wish to disclose in the event that it was restored.
It does not take away from her beauty however I wanted to disclose it just in case.
The stand is NOT included with this half doll.  Please inquire if you are interested in the stand.
This half doll comes from my private collection.
She has been in my family for a very long time. My Grandmother was a very serious collector of half dolls and I inherited the love for them as well. My Grandmother had duplicates of so many simply because over the years as she collected and her collection grew and grew, she tended to forget what she owned.
I think her reasoning on this was when she was out looking for more to add to her collection....."when it doubt....buy it, when I get home I will find out". LOL
She could never part with them, even if she already had the same half doll. She kept them all. :)
Once she purchased or in many cases was gifted a half doll she didn't get rid of it. She was a master seamstress and often times she would make them into a pincushion if she had duplicates. Many she used in her sewing room. I am thinning out the collection as I have no way to display them all. Many have been packed away in steamer trunks and these beauties are far too pretty to not be seen and enjoyed.
This doll has been lovingly cared for and comes from a smoke free home.
Please view ALL PHOTOS...they are a large part of the description.

I trust Buyers will rely on personal knowledge about what it is they are purchasing- or will become informed prior to purchase. Communication is key to a successful transaction.
This is why I list pages in reference book where possible.
Please understand this is an antique piece.  It is not perfect or new.  When these were manufactured back in their time (early 1900's)  there were tiny impurities in the slip which caused imperfections when fired such as  tiny pinhead bubbles, bumps, specks, discolorations etc....
This is part of purchasing an antique and helps to not only date the piece but adds a certain character to the item that you just don't get in today's items.  These lovely pieces are a part of history....and if you are looking for perfect or new...then maybe antiques are not for you.  :)
