Presented for your consideration is this interesting antique atlas. The atlas is titled, Rand, McNally & Co. Universal Atlas of the World, and was published by Rand McNally & Co. in Chicago in 1900. The 456 page book contains 124 color maps of countries around the world as well as the states in the United States. Each map is finely detailed and with scales marked on each map. The front half of the atlas is dedicated to maps while the second half is dedicated to information. Some of the information in the atlas is financial stats/records, biographies of U.S. Presidents, religious denominations in the U.S., political parties in the U.S., information about notable historical figures and countries, and a timeline of significant historical events. There are hundreds of engravings throughout the atlas as well. All pages appear to be intact and free of damage, except for three pages which have a tear in them. The atlas is completed with a hardcover. This neat atlas would make a great addition to any antique book, map or atlas collection!
The cover has separated from the binding. Binding is loosening, causing some pages to become loose from the spine. Needs to be rebound. Light cover staining, mainly on the back cover. Some light foxing is on a few pages and a calling card was glued to the first page. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD condition. Sold as found. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 14 1/2" long, 11 3/4" wide and 1 5/8" thick.
